Kol: A Retreat for Jewish Music Across the Diaspora

May 10th-12th at Urban Adamah

Join us for a weekend of music, Shabbat practices, and community building. This unique participatory retreat brings together singers, musicians, and learners of diverse backgrounds and ages to explore both ancestral and modern Jewish music. Everyone is a learner, everyone is a teacher. Together with our faculty teachers, we will co-create the weekend. Bring your songs and spirit to share. We are committed to making space for Jewish and non-Jewish people of all backgrounds and intend to include a diverse array of music cultures. We sing and play for our love of healing, community and liberation, and to ground and elevate ourselves.

'“It's hard to find words to accurately depict how deep and insightful Kol Retreat was for me. All I can say is that after a weekend filled with high quality workshops and song circles, nourishing vegetarian food, and open-hearted community connections, I am absolutely inspired. I am inspired to be more in touch with my Jewish roots and my musical self. Through the wide variety of workshops, I was able to sing and connect with my ancestors, learned traditional Ladino music to get in touch with experiences of Jewish women from long ago, and deepened my relationship with social justice work in singing powerful Jewish and protest music. A very special part for me was simply connecting with so many new people who were all so kind and loving, and creating impromptu music on the spot! I highly recommend this retreat and the Urban Adamah community to any person seeking community, connection, and a deepened relationship with themself.” -Annie Lesny

“A perfect blend of Judaism and Music: an accessible sampling of a broad range of our traditions that made me feel soooo much more connected to my lineage AND contemporary community” - Jem

“I wasn’t sure if this retreat would be for me, I love music but I’m not sure I think of myself as a “musician” but it was so deepening for me in spirit and musically. Everyone was included and I felt so welcome. What a restorative, inspiring weekend!” - Naomi
